హైదరాబాద్‌: తెలంగాణ రాష్ట్రంలో జాతీయ రహదారుల అభివృద్ధికి రూ.40,800 కోట్ల ప్యాకేజీని ఇస్తున్నట్లు కేంద్ర రవాణా, జాతీయ రహదారులు, పోర్టుల మంత్రి నితిన్‌గడ్కరీ వెల్లడించారు. ఆ మొత్తంతో రాష్ట్రంలో 2,556 కిలోమీటర్ల మేరకు రహదారులను విస్తరించనున్నట్లు తెలిపారు. రాష్ట్ర పర్యటనకు వచ్చిన గడ్కరీ సోమవారం బేగంపేట విమానాశ్రయంలో విలేకరులతో మాట్లాడారు. తెలంగాణ రాష్ట్రంలో జాతీయ రహదారుల విస్తరణకు అధిక ప్రాధాన్యం ఇస్తున్నట్లు ప్రకటించారు. హైదరాబాద్‌-బెంగళూరు మధ్య ఎక్స్‌ప్రెస్‌ వేను నిర్మిస్తామని, 550 కిలోమీటర్ల పొడవైన ఈ మార్గానికి రూ.8,400 కోట్లు ఖర్చు చేయనున్నట్లు తెలిపారు. ఈ రహదారి తెలంగాణ రాష్ట్రం నుంచి 210 కిలోమీటర్లు వెళ్తుందన్నారు. హైదరాబాద్‌ నుంచి ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్‌ రాజధాని అమరావతి వరకు మొత్తం 270 కిలోమీటర్ల పొడవైన ఎక్స్‌ప్రెస్‌ వే నిర్మిస్తామని, ఈ మార్గం తెలంగాణలో 190 కిలోమీటర్లు వెళుతుందని వివరించారు. ఇందుకుగాను రూ.1,600 కోట్లు వ్యయం అవుతుందని వెల్లడించారు. ఈ రెండు ‘ఎక్స్‌ప్రెస్‌ వే’లతో పాటు తెలంగాణలో 1,670 కిలోమీటర్లు పొడవైన జాతీయ మార్గా(నేషనల్‌ హైవే)లను అభివృద్ధి చేయాలని నిర్ణయించామన్నారు. దీనికి గాను రూ.16,500 కోట్లు వ్యయం అవుతుందని చెప్పారు. రూ.5000 కోట్లతో 480 కిలోమీటర్ల మేరకు జాతీయ రదారుల విస్తరణకు ఇప్పటికే ప్రణాళికలు సిద్ధమయ్యాయని, వచ్చే బడ్జెటులో రూ.900 కోట్ల విలువ చేసే పనులను మంజూరు చేయనున్నామని కేంద్ర మంత్రి వివరించారు.

SECON Private Limited, Bengaluru, has said it will prepare Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) report for the Missile Test Launch Facility project proposed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) at Nagayalanka in Krishna district. The SECON, in its official website, has claimed that the DRDO is one of its major clients in India following the National Highways Authority of India and the oil industry. A few key studies such as oceanographic and seismic studies apart from onshore and offshore investigations will be taken up to prepare the EIA report for the project. In January, the National Board for Wildlife’s Standing Committee chaired by Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Prakash Javadekar has approved the missile test launch facility project to be set up at Nagayalanka. A total of 154.42 hectares has been proposed for the project, covering test facility in above six hectares and technical facility in 130 hectares. The test site is falling in the limits of the Krishna Wildlife Sanctuary. “The feasibility of using barges along the Krishna creek for transportation of equipment and articles is being explored,” said Chief Construction Engineer (R&D), South, DRDO, B. Hyderabad, Oct 14: The winter session of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly is proposed to be held in the new capital city of Amaravati sometime in December. Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao has decided on the venue for the meet. The State Government is planning to construct a building in the Thullur village of Guntur district close to the Seed Capital Area on a fast track mode. Foundation laying ceremony for the capital is to be held on October 22 in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Meanwhile, the Government plans to bring back some of the artefacts from Amaravati now placed in the British Museum in London. These were some of the artefacts which were part of the Buddhist stupa at Amaravati, where a museum has been developed and a mould of Maha Stupa currently exists. A number of artefacts from the stupa are on display at the museum in Amaravati and also outside the stupa.

The Andhra Pradesh government is hoping to bring back many artifacts related to its new capital city Amaravati, which are on display in the British Museum in London. Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary IYR Krishna Rao, who recently visited the museum, said about 30 to 40 artifacts that were excavated from and around Amaravati site are on the display at the British Museum. "Lot of artifacts related to Amaravati are there. They are excavated from the site at Amaravati (in AP) and include stupa, pillar, relics and 'chakras'. There (in the museum) is a separate gallery called Amaravati gallery comprising 30-40 artifacts, which are mainly related to Buddhism and Amaravati," Rao told PTI here. Amaravati, the new capital city of the state coming up in the Vijayawada-Guntur region, is named after the historic place in the present day Guntur district on the banks of river Krishna. The state government has said Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for the capital city at a grand event to be held on 'Vijaya Dasami' on October 22. Amaravati, which means the town that lives forever, was the seat of power of Satavahana rulers and the name has been chosen in view of its historical, spiritual and mythological significance, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had said. The region had seen three religions - Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism - flourishing, according to historians. The exquisite artifacts, believed to be made of local limestone called 'Palnad' marble, were shipped from India to London during the British Raj. The Chief Secretary said the state government would like to take up the matter with the Union Government to bring back the famed artifacts. "We are getting it video-graphed and getting it here. Then we would also like to take it up with Government of India and through it with Britain for sending them back. But, that's going to be a long drawn out process. We will start out the process," he said.
